Education: Passed first division in Secondary School Certificate exam  in 1984 from Dinajpur Zilla School and passed first division in Higher secondary examination from Dinajpur Government College in 1986 and obtained Master’s degree in Sociology from Rajshahi University in 1990.

Small family with wife Afroza Parveen Jhuma and only child Nashad Sakeb.

Son Nashad Sakeb, born: 19 October 1999. Completed Masters in Fine Art from Dhaka University. Working as Head of Creatives in Inked Studioes, Dhaka.

Career: From 1994 to 2016, he was responsible for 22 years as a high-ranking official in government and private development organizations. During most of his working life, he has been responsible for various projects of Bangladesh Rural Development Board and CARE Bangladesh. Most of the workplaces were in the northern part of Bangladesh, especially in the rural areas of Kurigram, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Feni, Nilphamari. Served as a high-ranking official in various government programs for socio-economic development and job creation of flood-affected, river-damaged and poor people in grazing areas.

Art practice: Najmus Sakeb Rana was very interested in art practice since his childhood. He was interested in painting, listening to music, playing sports. But he had a special interest in painting. He would always draw in notebooks, newspapers, in the corners of books, wherever he wanted, any blank space he found. His hobby was to draw pictures of teachers between classes. Seeing his paintings, everyone was interested in him among his friends. Everyone wanted to see his paintings. He used to draw pictures of everyone. He has done this practice all his life. After passing the higher secondary examination, he expressed his interest in studying art at university. But due to a family decision, he was instructed to concentrate on his studies and get a degree in some other subject to qualify himself for employment. Teacher father wanted a safe and secure life for him. Following his father’s advice, he obtained a post graduate degree in sociology from Rajshahi University with good results and later worked for 22 years He has worked in three institutions in his life and he has stood first in the examinations of three institutions and in his career he has earned a reputation as an honest, hard-working and ethical officer who is uncompromising and fearless in all his dutiesAt work, he was accepted by everyone as a polite, good-natured, friendly and helpful officer to all departments, especially to the administration.

But despite all these responsibilities, he cherished the love for art practice or painting in the heart of his life. As a result, he established Drawing School Dinajpur on May 1, 2012 at his residence in Dinajpur city. He opened this institution of art practice in Patua Para, an even more backward area of ​​a neglected township in the northern part of Bangladesh.

Drawing School Dinajpur has completed 12 years of its establishment. During this long time we have gone through many experiences. An institution that has been built up gradually has made a place of love in everyone’s mind today. Drawing School has never compromised on quality. It has never neglected to take necessary measures to provide maximum opportunities to the students. Employed additional teachers as needed for intensive supervision. Always striving to ensure a clean, homely and safe environment. Apart from regular classes, the facilities of the area provided employment opportunities to underprivileged children and youths by providing them with free training. Since its inception, “Drawing School Dinajpur” has been carrying out various social service activities which are still going on. Due to covid-19, the last two years have been lost from our lives. The drawing school is working consciously for the social and mental development of the children. Drawing school is trying to maintain the best quality in a completely new way Thank you. Everyone wants the best, we try to give it.

Drawing School has provided education to more than 100 underprivileged children since 2012. Their teaching materials are provided by the drawing school. Among them satisfactorily trained students are now working as assistant teachers in drawing schools. The drawing school has provided employment opportunities to girls and young women from underprivileged families in the area through long-term training. After training from drawing school, many are now working as drawing teachers in various schools. Among them, 16 young women are currently working in the drawing school. Those who perform duties according to their convenience in different shifts of drawing school classes besides their studies and family responsibilities. For this, they receive an honorarium at the prescribed rate for fulfilling their duties. Art training of 24 such underprivileged youths started from May/2023, which is ongoing.

“Drawing School Dinajpur” is providing all the materials to these trainees free of cost. This program is an ongoing process of Drawing School. From 2012 till date, more than 50 teenagers have been trained through this program. 6 assistant teachers of this institution got married in the last 2 years during Corona. This void is filled through trained students. The money paid by parents who are economically able to pay the admission fee and salary is used to cover the running of the drawing school and the expenses of the poor trainees. The reality is that an underprivileged child enjoys more benefits than a regular student because apart from free salary allowances, they also get free drawing materials. Despite many limitations, the drawing school continues to provide this opportunity to the children of the area.

Many students of this school have participated in district/national/international competitions and been awarded. Drawing School Dinajpur is not only a drawing school but also a successful training center. This organization has succeeded in creating an open platform for all ages and classes. Our students come to learn together mother/daughter, father/daughter, mother/son. There are many such students. People who inspire us, and open for all ages,the slogans make sense.

We have ensured a safe environment for all students. We are always conscious to ensure maximum safety especially for girl children. This is why drawing school has become acceptable to all parents. A good education system recognized all over the world has a student teacher ratio of 20:1 i.e. 1 teacher for 20 students. The Drawing School employs 1 teacher for every 5 students with intensive supervision and hands-on teaching efforts. Every child is special, in the case of children with special needs, 1 teacher is specially assigned for 1 child.

It is a first choice school for pre-primary or 4+ children and parents who are also their first school of life. We have special care and arrangements for them. We have ensured a child-friendly and joyful environment for all students. So every student looks forward to coming to our school. Drawing School Dinajpur has been conducting various social service activities since its establishment in 2012. These include distribution of food items to flood victims, cash payment for flood damage infrastructure construction, winter clothing, educational materials, cash and food items gifts at festivals. Cash assistance in medical treatment and payment of exam fee/form fillup/dues of educational institutions to poor students. Recently, a fund called Drawing School Welfare Trust has been formed by this institution. Through which poor girl children will be supported in education and health. Apart from this, two vans have been purchased for Rs.1,05,000/- to two widows to meet their household expenses by conducting income generating activities and to a destitute woman 50,000/- land mortgaged. In the past two years during the Corona period, various awareness activities such as distribution of masks, distribution of food items have been done among the unemployed people. Although our capacity is limited, we hope that this effort of drawing school will continue as part of social responsibility as well as management of the institution.

Drawing School Dinajpur is not only a school to learn to draw but also plays a role in the mental development of a child in positive changes in his behaviour, manners of speaking, language skills, politeness, tolerance, humanity, honesty, sense of responsibility, determination, compassion and respect, which are taught to a child. It is very important to build a moral foundation

Despite being located in a remote district, many prominent artists and art patrons of the country have visited this institution and given their valuable advice.

Various articles have been published in national newspapers about the educational system and environment of this institution. Above all, our greatest achievement is the support and love of the people associated with this institution. They take pride in this institution and consider it their asset and try to protect it all round. This acceptance and cooperation of people is the biggest achievement.

Our students recently went to the local Rajbati old age home to greet the isolated elderly and spend some happy time with them. Our aim was to spread the message of doing something for others, extending a hand of service to the new generation even in the face of limited ability. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Drawing School Dinajpur, a 4-day art festival has been organized from 25th to 28th 2022. On this occasion, the fair will be held with artwork exhibition, painting competition, awarding of prizes and certificates, cultural programs and stalls for the sale of industrial products. We hope that everyone’s spontaneous and friendly presence in this event of Drawing School Dinajpur will make our efforts to develop art practice and culture more vibrant and dynamic.
